Feedback Loop- term commonly used in economics to refer to a situation where part of the output of a situation is used for new input. We had two different kinds of feedback, negative and positive, throughout our trials.
Negative Feedback- a reaction that causes a decrease in function. After running, when you rest, your heart rate decreases Positive Feedback- a reaction that causes an increase in function. When you run, there is an increase in heart rate. The Scientific Method- a series of steps followed by scientific investigators to answer specific questions about the natural world. We used the scientific method to observe and record all data, as well as following its steps throughout the project. |
Homeostasis- Homeostasis is the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes. Our project revolved around homeostasis while proving how it was relevant in the circulatory system.
IV- a variable (often denoted by x ) whose variation does not depend on that of another. Our independent variable in our trials was exercise and holding breath. DV- a variable (often denoted by y ) whose value depends on that of another. Our dependent variable throughout our trials was heart rate. Controlled- The control variable in scientific experimentation is the experimental element which is constant and unchanged throughout the course of the investigation. Our controlled variable was time and distance because that's how we measured the same things between each run. |
